Report: "I will call you tomorrow," she said.
Solution: She said (that) she would call me the following day. Changes: will->would, I->she, you->me, tomorrow->the following day. Tense backshift: present->past, will->would, past simple->past perfect, can->could.
Ejemplo resuelto
Report a question: "Where do you live?" he asked me.
Solution: He asked me where I lived. Reported questions: no inversion, no question mark. Wh-word + subject + verb (in backshifted tense). For yes/no questions: if/whether + subject + verb.

Reporting verbs: "You should see a doctor," she said.
Solution: She advised me to see a doctor. / She recommended that I see a doctor. Advanced reporting verbs: advise, suggest, warn, deny, admit, claim, insist, complain, refuse, offer, promise.
