Past Perfect and Future Perfect
Past Perfect Simple
Form: Subject + had + past participle
Use: An action completed before another past action. It establishes which event happened first:

"When I arrived at the station, the train had already left."
Timeline: 1st) train left (Past Perfect) --> 2nd) I arrived (Past Simple)
"She had never seen the ocean before she moved to Barcelona."
Past Perfect Continuous
Form: Subject + had + been + verb-ing
Use: Emphasis on the duration of an activity that was in progress before another past event:
"They had been walking for three hours before they found the village."
"He was tired because he had been working all day."
Future Perfect Simple
Form: Subject + will + have + past participle
Use: An action that will be completed before a specific future time:
"By next Juñe, I will have finished my degree."
"She will have left by the time you arrive."
Future Perfect Continuous
Form: Subject + will + have + been + verb-ing
Use: Emphasis on the duration of an activity up to a specific future point:
"By December, I will have been working here for five years."
"Next month, they will have been living in this house for twenty years."
Recuerda
The key to all perfect tenses is the relationship between TWO time points: Present Perfect (past --> now), Past Perfect (earlier past --> later past), Future Perfect (now --> future point). The perfect connects the earlier event to the later reference point.
