Los tiempos futuros (will, going to, will be + -ing) expresan acciones futuras, mientras que los tiempos mixtos combinan un tiempo pasado con una referencia futura (e.g., will have finished).

Ejemplo

Ejemplo: By 2025, she will have completed her internship.

Ejercicios

By next year, I ___ (finish) university.

This time tomorrow, we ___ (fly) to New York.

Material adicional

Conditionals: Zero, First, Second & Third

TipoEstructuraUsoEjemplo
ZeroIf + Present, PresentVerdades / hechosIf you heat water, it boils.
FirstIf + Present, will + basePosible / probableIf it rains, I'll stay home.
SecondIf + Past Simple, would + baseImaginario / improbableIf I were rich, I would travel.

Third Conditional (Tercer condicional)

Estructura: If + Past Perfect, would have + participio pasado

If (condición irreal pasada)Resultado imaginarioTraducción
If I had studied harder,I would have passed the exam.Si hubiera estudiado más, habría aprobado.
If she had left earlier, she wouldn't have missed the train.Si hubiera salido antes, no habría perdido el tren.
If we had known about the party,we would have gone.
If he hadn't eaten so much,he wouldn't have felt sick.Si no hubiera comido tanto, no se habría sentido mal.
⚠️ Importante
El Third Conditional habla del pasado. No puedes cambiar lo que pasó. Solo imaginas qué habría sido diferente.

• ✅ If I had known, I would have helped. (Correcto: Past Perfect + would have + PP)
• ❌ If I would have known... (Error muy común)

Contracciones en el Third Conditional

📘 Ejemplo
If I'd known, I'd have helped.
(= If I had known, I would have helped.)

Cuidado: 'd puede ser had o would:
• If I'd known (= had known) → parte de if
• I'd have helped (= would have helped) → resultado

Los cuatro condicionales comparados

TipoProbabilidadTiempoEjemplo
Zero100%GeneralIf ice melts, it becomes water.
FirstProbableFuturoIf she studies, she'll pass.
SecondImprobable / irrealPresente/futuroIf I were president, I would change things.
ThirdImposible (no pasó)PasadoIf I had studied, I would have passed.

Mixed Conditionals (Condicionales mixtos) — Extra

📘 Ejemplo
3rd + 2nd (pasado irreal → resultado presente):
If I had studied medicine, I would be a doctor now.
(Si hubiera estudiado medicina, sería médico ahora.)

2nd + 3rd (situación general → consecuencia pasada):
If I spoke French, I would have got that job.
(Si hablara francés, habría conseguido ese trabajo.)
📖 Reading comprehension
Read and reflect:

"If I had paid more attention in class, I would have understood the lesson better," said Carlos after failing his Maths exam. His friend Ana replied, "If you study harder next time, you'll pass. I'm sure of it."

"You're right," said Carlos. "If I had a time machine, I would go back and study more. But I can't change the past. If I start studying now, I'll be ready for the next exam."

"That's the spirit!" said Ana. "If you want, I can help you study this weekend. If we study together, we'll both do better."

Carlos agreed. He thought to himself: "If I hadn't met Ana, I wouldn't have such a good friend. She always helps me when I need it."
