At B1 level, you should be able to understand the main points of texts on familiar topics and find specific information in everyday material.
Reading strategies
- Skimming: reading quickly to get the general idea (read title, first and last paragraphs, topic sentences)
- Scanning: reading quickly to find specific information (dates, names, numbers)
- Intensive reading: reading carefully to understand every detail
- Inferring meaning: guessing the meaning of unknown words from context
Common B1 reading tasks

- Matching headings to paragraphs
- Gap-fill (choosing the right word for each gap)

The Benefits of Learning Languages
Learning a foreign language has many benefits beyond just being able to communicate with people from other countries.
