Solved examples: Past simple
Ejemplo resuelto
Regular or irregular? Complete: "Yesterday I ___ (go) to the cinema."
Solution: "Yesterday I went to the cinema." "Go" is irregular: go-went-gone. Regular verbs add -ed (play-played, watch-watched).
Ejemplo resuelto
Make it negative: "She visited Paris last summer."
Solution: "She didn't visit Paris last summer." In past simple negative, we use didn't + base form (NOT "didn't visited").
Ejemplo resuelto
Form a question: "They ate pizza."
Solution: "Did they eat pizza?" In past simple questions, we use Did + subject + base form. The main verb returns to its base form (eat, not ate).
