Common Mistakes
Common error
NEVER use "will" in the if-clause.
WRONG: If it will rain, I will stay home.
CORRECT: If it rains, I will stay home.
Unless = If not
Example
"Unless you study, you will fail." = "If you do not study, you will fail."
"I will go unless it rains." = "I will go if it does not rain."

Which conditional?
"If you press this button, the door opens." - Zero (it always works like this)
"If you press that button, the alarm will go off." - First (possible future consequence)
"If I pressed that button, nothing would happen." - Second (imaginary)
Exercises- Rewrite using "unless": "If you do not hurry, you will miss the bus."
- Correct the mistakes: "If I will have time, I will call you." / "If I would be rich, I would buy a house."
- Write 5 conditional sentences about your school (mix all three types).
