Advanced exercises
- Write definitions using relative clauses: "A teacher is a person who..." (do 5).
- Join these sentences using relative pronouns: "I met a man. His wife is a famous actress." (whose)
- Write 5 sentences about your town using "where": "This is the park where..."
- When can we omit the relative pronoun? Compare: "The book which I read" and "The book I read." Write 3 examples where we can omit it.
- Write a description of your best friend using at least 3 relative clauses.
Topic summary- Who: for people. "The girl who sits next to me is my friend."
- Which/That: for things. "The book which/that I read was great."
- Where: for places. "The school where I study is big."
- Whose: for possession. "The boy whose father is a doctor."
- We can sometimes omit who/which/that when they are the object: "The film (that) I saw."
