Model essay (180 words):
Topic: Should school uniforms be compulsory?
The question of whether school uniforms should be mandatory has been debated for decades. In my view, school uniforms should be compulsory for several reasons.
First of all, uniforms promote equality among students. When everyone wears the same clothes, there is less pressure to wear expensive brands, which can reduce bullying and social exclusión. For instance, studies in the UK have shown that schools with uniforms report fewer incidents of peer harassment related to appearance.
Furthermore, uniforms help students focus on their studies rather than on their outfits. Without the daily distraction of choosing what to wear, students can dedícate more time and energy to their academic work.
However, some argue that uniforms restrict individual expression. While this is a valid point, I believe that students have many other ways to express their personality, such as through sports, art or extracurricular activities.
In conclusión, the benefits of school uniforms -- promoting equality and reducing distractions -- outweigh the drawbacks. Schools should seriously consider making them compulsory.
