Transport is changing faster than ever before. In many cities around the world, people are already using electric scooters and bikes to move around. But what will transport look like in the future?
Self-driving cars are being tested by several companies. These vehicles use cameras and sensors to drive without a human. Some experts believe that by 2040, most new cars will be autonomous. This could reduce accidents, because 90% of crashes are caused by human error.
Another exciting development is the Hyperloop, a transport system that would carry passengers in pods through tubes at speeds of over 1,000 km/h. A journey from Madrid to Barcelona could take just 30 minutes instead of three hours.
However, there are challenges. Self-driving cars are expensive, and people are not sure if they can trust them. The Hyperloop has not been built for passengers yet. And we still need to make all transport greener to fight climate change.
One thing is certain: the way we travel is going to change dramatically in the next few decades.
