Extension and Summary: Writing Skills
Exercises- Write a complete opinion essay (150 words) with introduction, 2 arguments for, 1 against, and conclusion on: "Should school start later in the morning?"
- Write a narrative (150 words) about an unexpected event. Include dialogue, descriptions, and feelings.
- Portfolio task: create a blog post about a topic you are passionate about (120 words).
- Peer review: swap a piece of writing with a classmate and give feedback using a checklist (grammar, vocabulary, organisation, content).
- Creative writing: write a poem (10 lines) or a song lyric in English about any topic.
Summary- Always plan before writing: brainstorm, organise ideas, then write.
- Use paragraphs: introduction, body (1-2 paragraphs), conclusion.
- Use linking words: addition (also, moreover), contrast (however, although), cause (because, since), result (so, therefore), time (first, then, finally).
- Check your work: spelling, grammar, punctuation, capital letters.
- Text types: email (informal/formal), story, opinion essay, description, review, report.
