Example 1 - Opinion essay structure:
Introduction: State your opinion clearly. "In my opinion, students should learn at least two foreign languages."
Body 1: First argument + example. "Firstly, learning languages improves brain function. Studies show that bilingual people have better memory."
Body 2: Second argument + example. "Moreover, speaking other languages opens doors to better jobs."
Conclusion: Restate opinion. "In conclusion, I strongly believe that learning languages is essential for every student."

Example 2 - Formal vs informal writing:
Informal (email): "Hi! How's it going? I had an awesome weekend!" Formal (letter): "Dear Sir/Madam, I am writing to enquire about..." Use formal language for authorities, companies, applications.

Example 3 - Story writing tips:
Use descriptive language: "The old, dark house stood silently at the end of the street." Not: "There was a house." Use direct speech: "Run!" shouted Tom. Use varied sentence length: mix short and long sentences for rhythm.
Exercises- Write the introduction paragraph for an essay on: "Should homework be banned?"
- Write a body paragraph with one argument and an example supporting your opinion.
- Write the conclusion paragraph restating your opinion.
- Improve: "The boy walked. He was sad. It was raining." Make it more descriptive (one paragraph).
- Write a formal email to a company asking about a summer job (6-8 sentences).
- Write an informal email to your best friend about your weekend plans (6-8 sentences).
- Write the opening paragraph of a mystery story. Create suspense.
- Write a review of your favourite book: title, author, plot summary (no spoilers), opinion.
- Write a persuasive paragraph: convince your parents to let you get a pet.
- Edit and improve: "I went to Spain. It was hot. I swam. The food was nice. I had fun." Rewrite using connectors and adjectives.
