Advanced exercises

  1. Report a conversation between two friends (at least 6 lines of dialogue).
  2. Write a newspaper report using reported speech: "The mayor said that..." / "Witnesses reported that..."
  3. Report these commands: "Close the door!" -> She told me to close the door. Do 5 more.
  4. What happens with "here" and "this" in reported speech? Write 3 examples showing the changes.
  5. Write 5 sentences reporting what famous people have said (real or invented quotes).

  • Reported speech: reporting what someone said without using their exact words.
  • Tense shift: Present->Past, Past->Past Perfect, Will->Would, Can->Could.
